Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 965 — The Prophet ﷺ ordered me to roast a goat

حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، ثنا يَحْيَى الْحِمَّانِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ فَائِدٍ، مَوْلَى عَبَادِلَ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي رَافِعٍ، عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ، قَالَ: أَمَرَنِي النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ أُصْلِيَ لَهُ شَاةً، فَصَلَيْتُهَا لَهُ، فَقَالَ: «نَاوِلْنِي الذِّرَاعَ» فَنَاوَلْتُهُ الذِّرَاعَ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: «نَاوِلْنِي الذِّرَاعَ» فَنَاوَلْتُهُ الذِّرَاعَ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: «نَاوِلْنِي الذِّرَاعَ» فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، كَمْ لَهَا مِنْ ذِرَاعٍ؟ فَقَالَ: «أَمَا لَوْ سَكَتَّ لَوَجَدْتَهَا مَا دَعَوْتُكَ»
Sayyiduna Abu Rafi' (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered me to roast a goat for him, so I roasted it. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Hand me the foreleg." I handed him the foreleg. Then he said: "Hand me the foreleg." I handed him the foreleg. Then he said: "Hand me the foreleg." I said: O Messenger of Allah! How many forelegs does it have? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Had you remained silent, you would have kept finding it for as long as I kept asking."
