Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 9558 — Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud said: The guardian

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ الْمِنْهَالِ، ثنا حَمَّادٌ، عَنْ لَيْثٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ، قَالَ: " وَالِي الْيَتِيمِ يُحْصِي السِّنِينَ، فَإِذَا قَالَ احْتَلَمَ، قَالَ لَهُ: إِنَّ عَلَيْكَ زَكَاةَ كَذَا وَكَذَا سَنَةً "
Mujahid said that Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "The guardian of an orphan should keep count of the years (of his age); then when he reports that he has reached puberty, he should tell him: You owe zakah for such-and-such number of years."
