Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 9526 — Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud came to our mosque

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدُوسِ بْنِ كَامِلٍ، ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْجَعْدِ، ثنا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ أَبِي قَيْسٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ هُزَيْلَ بْنَ شُرَحْبِيلَ، قَالَ: جَاءَ ابْنُ مَسْعُودٍ إِلَى مَسْجِدِنَا، وَأُقِيمَتِ الصَّلَاةُ، فَقِيلَ لَهُ تَقَدَّمْ: فَقَالَ: «يَتَقَدَّمُ إِمَامُكُمْ» ، قُلْنَا: إِمَامُنَا لَيْسَ هَهُنَا، قَالَ: «لِيَتَقَدَّمْ رَجُلٌ مِنْكُمْ» ، فَتَقَدَّمَ رَجُلٌ فَقَامَ عَلَى دُكَّانٍ فِي قِبْلَةِ الْمَسْجِدِ، فَنَهَاهُ عَبْدُ اللهِ
Huzayl bin Shurahbil said: Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) came to our mosque when the iqamah for the prayer had been called, and it was said to him: Go forward (and lead). He said: "Let your own imam go forward." We said: Our imam is not here. He said: "Let a man from among you go forward." So a man went forward and stood on a raised platform on the qiblah side of the mosque, and Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) forbade him.
