Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 9424 — he said: Do not be deceived

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ، عَنْ خُصَيْفٍ، عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ: " لَا تَغْتَرُّوا بِتِجَارَاتِكُمْ، وَأَجْشَارِكُمْ، وَتُسَافِرُوا إِلَى قُرَى السَّوَادِ، وَتَقُولُوا: إِنَّا قَوْمٌ سَفْرٌ، إِنَّمَا الْمُسَافِرُ مِنْ أُفُقٍ إِلَى أُفُقٍ "
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "Do not be deceived by (your occupation with) your trade and your pastures, so that you journey to the villages of the Sawad and say: 'We are a people travelling.' The traveller is only the one who goes from one horizon to another."
