حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الصَّائِغُ الْمَكِّيُّ، ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، ثنا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، قَالَ: " أَمَّنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ، فِي صَلَاةِ الْعِشَاءِ الْآخِرَةِ فَافْتَتَحَ الْأَنْفَالَ، فَقَرَأَ: حَتَّى إِذَا بَلَغَ: {نِعْمَ الْمَوْلَى وَنِعْمَ النَّصِيرُ} [الأنفال: ٤٠] رَكَعَ، ثُمَّ قَامَ فَقَرَأَ فِي الرَّكْعَةِ الثَّانِيَةِ بِسُورَةٍ "
Abd al-Rahman bin Yazid narrates: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) led us in the Isha prayer and began the recitation with Surah al-Anfal, until, when he reached "He is the best Protector and the best Helper" [Surah al-Anfal: 40], he bowed; then he stood up and recited a surah in the second rak'ah.
