حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ، ثنا عَبْدُ السَّلَامِ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ السُّلَمِيِّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ، قَالَ: «الْوَلِيمَةُ أَوَّلُ يَوْمٍ حَقٌّ، وَالثَّانِي فَضْلٌ، وَالثَّالِثُ رِيَاءٌ وَسُمْعَةٌ، وَمَنْ يُسَمِّعْ يُسَمِّعِ اللهُ بِهِ»
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "The wedding feast (walimah) on the first day is a right, on the second day a favour (an extra good deed), and on the third day it is showing off and seeking fame; and whoever shows off, Allah disgraces him."
