Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 887 — a man came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ خَالِدٍ الْحَرَّانِيُّ، ثنا أَبِي، ثنا زُهَيْرٌ، ثنا خَالِدُ بْنُ أَبِي كَرِيمَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ قُرَّةَ، عَنِ الْأَغَرِّ الْمُزَنِيِّ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَتَى رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ، إِنِّي أَصْبَحْتُ وَلَمْ أُوتِرْ، فَقَالَ: «إِنَّمَا الْوِتْرُ بِاللَّيْلِ» قَالَ: يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ، إِنِّي أَصْبَحْتُ وَلَمْ أُوتِرْ، قَالَ: «فَأَوْتِرْ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna al-Agharr al-Muzani (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Prophet of Allah, morning has come and I have not prayed witr. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Witr is only at night." He said: O Prophet of Allah, morning has come and I have not prayed witr. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then pray witr now."
