حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، وَأَبُو مُسْلِمٍ الْكَشِّيُّ، قَالَا: ثنا مُسَدَّدٌ، ثنا مُعْتَمِرٌ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَيُّوبَ يُحَدِّثُ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ هِلَالٍ، عَنْ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنَ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ، اسْتَغْفِرُوا اللهَ وَتُوبُوا إِلَيْهِ، فَإِنِّي أَسْتَغْفِرُ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ فِي الْيَوْمِ، أَوْ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ مِائَةَ مَرَّةٍ، أَوْ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ مَرَّةٍ»
Abu Burdah narrated that a man from the Muhajirun heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "O people, seek the forgiveness of Allah and turn in repentance to Him, for indeed I seek forgiveness and turn in repentance to Him in a day, or every day, a hundred times, or more than a hundred times."
