Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: A man from the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) met a man from the jinn and wrestled with him, and the human threw the jinn down. The jinn said to him: "Wrestle me again." So he wrestled him again and threw him down again. The human said to him: "I see you are weak and emaciated, as if your two arms were the two legs of a dog. Are all of you jinn like this, or are you alone like this?" He said: "No, by Allah, among them I am counted strong. But wrestle me a third time; if you throw me down, I will teach you something that will benefit you." So he wrestled him again and threw him down. He said: "Come on, teach me." He said: "Do you recite Ayat al-Kursi?" He said: "Yes." He said: "In whatever house you recite it, Satan will leave it, breaking wind loudly like a donkey, and he will not enter it until the morning." A man from the gathering said: "O Abu Abd al-Rahman, who was that man from the Companions of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)?" The narrator said: Displeasure appeared on the face of Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him), and he turned towards him and said: "Who could he be other than Umar (may Allah be pleased with him)?"
