Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 8648 — I have listened to the reciters and found

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ النَّضْرِ الْأَزْدِيُّ، ثنا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، ثنا زَائِدَةُ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ شَقِيقٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ: " إِنِّي قَدْ سَمِعْتُ الْقُرَّاءَ فَسَمِعْتُهُمْ مُتَقَارِبِينَ، فَاقْرَءُوا كَمَا عَلِمْتُمْ، وَإِيَّاكُمْ وَالتَّنَطُّعَ وَالِاخْتِلَافَ فَإِنَّمَا هُوَ كَقَوْلِ أَحَدِكُمْ: هَلُمَّ وَتَعَالَ "
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "I have listened to the reciters and found them close to one another, so recite as you have been taught, and beware of affectation and disputing, for this difference is just like one of you saying 'halumma' and 'ta'al' (both mean the same thing: come)."
