حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّبَرِيُّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ عَوْنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ، عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ: «اللهُمَّ اجْعَلْ صَلَوَاتِكَ وَرَحْمَتَكَ عَلَى سَيِّدِ الْمُرْسَلِينَ، وَإِمَامِ الْمُتَّقِينَ، وَخَاتَمِ النَّبِيِّينَ مُحَمَّدٍ عَبْدِكَ وَرَسُولِكَ، إِمَامِ الْخَيْرِ، وَقَائِدِ الْخَيْرِ، وَرَسُولِ الرَّحْمَةِ، اللهُمَّ ابْعَثْهُ مَقَامًا مَحْمُودًا يَغْبِطُهُ بِهِ الْأَوَّلُونَ وَالْآخَرُونَ، اللهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ، كَمَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَى آلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ، اللهُمَّ بَارِكْ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ كَمَا بَارَكْتَ عَلَى آلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ» وَأَبُو سَلَمَةَ هَذَا الَّذِي رَوَى عَنْهُ الثَّوْرِيُّ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ: مِسْعَرُ بْنُ كِدَامٍ "
Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) used to supplicate with this: "O Allah, send Your blessings and Your mercy upon the leader of the Messengers, the imam of the God-fearing and the Seal of the Prophets, Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), Your servant and Your Messenger, the imam of goodness, the guide to goodness and the Messenger of mercy. O Allah, raise him to the Praised Station (al-Maqam al-Mahmud), for which the first and the last will envy him. O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and upon the family of Muhammad, as You sent blessings upon the family of Ibrahim; indeed You are Praiseworthy. O Allah, send down blessings (barakah) upon Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and upon the family of Muhammad, as You sent down blessings upon the family of Ibrahim; indeed You are Praiseworthy, Glorious."
