Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 8543 — That I should benefit from a whip

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ، قَالَ: «لَأَنْ أُمَتَّعَ بِسَوْطٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ، أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ أَنْ أَحُجَّ حَجَّةً بَعْدَ حَجَّةٍ»
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "That I should benefit from a whip in the path of Allah (that is, use a riding whip in jihad) is more beloved to me than performing one Hajj after another."
