Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 8541 — When one of you commits an offence liable

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ثنا أَبِي، ثنا جَرِيرٌ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ حَسَّانَ أَبِي الْأَشْرَسِ، عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ، قَالَ: قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ: «إِذَا أَصَابَ أَحَدُكُمْ حَدًّا فَلَا تَدْعُوا عَلَيْهِ تُعِينُوا عَلَيْهِ الشَّيْطَانَ، وَلَكِنِ ادْعُوا اللهَ أَنْ يَتُوبَ عَلَيْهِ وَيَرْحَمَهُ»
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "When one of you commits an offence liable to a hadd (prescribed punishment), do not invoke curses against him, for in that way you will be helping Satan; rather, supplicate to Allah that He accepts his repentance and has mercy on him."
