The sermon of Ibn Masud (may Allah be pleased with him) and some of his sayings
Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 8507 — I strongly detest seeing a man idle
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الصَّائِغُ، ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، ثنا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، ثنا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ بْنِ رَافِعٍ، عَمَّنْ أَخْبَرَهُ، عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ، قَالَ: «إِنِّي لَأَمْقُتُ أَنْ أَرَى الرَّجُلَ فَارِغًا لَا فِي عَمِلِ دُنْيَا، وَلَا آخِرَةٍ»
Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says: "I strongly detest seeing a man idle, engaged neither in any work of this world nor of the Hereafter."
