Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 8478 — from his father: The Dajjal was mentioned

حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ السَّدُوسِيُّ، ثنا عَاصِمُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، ثنا الْمَسْعُودِيُّ، عَنْ أَشْعَثَ بْنِ أَبِي الشَّعْثَاءِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: ذُكِرَ الدَّجَّالُ عِنْدَ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ، فَقَالَ: «لَا تُكْثِرُوا ذِكْرَهُ فَإِنَّ الْأَمْرَ إِذَا قُضِيَ فِي السَّمَاءِ كَانَ أَسْرَعُ لِنُزُولِهِ إِلَى الْأَرْضِ أَنْ يَظْهَرَ عَلَى أَلْسِنَةِ النَّاسِ» ، قَالَ: «أَلَا وَكَيْفَ بِكُمْ وَالْقَوْمُ آمِنُونَ وَأَنْتُمْ خَائِفُونَ؟ وَكَيْفَ بِكُمْ وَالْقَوْمُ فِي الظِّلِّ وَأَنْتُمْ فِي الضِّحِّ؟»
Ash'ath bin Abi al-Sha'tha (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from his father: The Dajjal was mentioned in the presence of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), and he said: "Do not mention him much, for when a matter is decreed in the heaven, the quickest thing for its descent to the earth is that it appears on the tongues of the people." He also said: "How will it be with you when the people are safe and you are afraid? And how will it be with you when the people are in the shade and you are in the sun?"
