Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 8437 — I came to the Prophet ﷺ on the day

Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on the day of Badr and said: "I have killed Abu Jahl." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "By Allah, besides whom there is no god, did you really kill him?" I said: "By Allah, besides whom there is no god, it was I who killed him." Joy overcame him (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Go and show him to me." So I took him (peace and blessings be upon him) until I stood with him at his (Abu Jahl's) head, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Praise be to Allah who has disgraced you. This is the Pharaoh of this Ummah. Drag him to the well." Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I had struck him with my own sword but it made no impression on him, so I took his sword and struck him with it until I killed him. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) gave me his sword as a bonus (nafl).
