Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 837 — the Prophet ﷺ said: On the Day

It is narrated from Sayyiduna al-Aswad bin Sari' (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "On the Day of Resurrection, four kinds of people will present an excuse: a deaf person who cannot hear, a man without understanding, an aged man, and one who died in the period between prophets (al-fatrah). The deaf one will say: 'O Lord! When Islam came, the children were throwing dung at me.' The aged one will say: 'When Islam came, I had no understanding.' And the one who died in the period between prophets will say: 'O Lord! No messenger of Yours came to me.' Allah Almighty will take a covenant from them that they will surely obey, then He will send a messenger to them saying: 'Enter the Fire.' He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: By the One in whose hand is my soul, if they were to enter it, it would become cool and safe for them."
