حَدَّثَنَا مُطَّلِبُ بْنُ شُعَيْبٍ الْأَزْدِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، حَدَّثَنِي اللَّيْثُ، حَدَّثَنِي يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي هِنْدٍ، أَنَّ مُطَرِّفًا مِنْ بَنِي عَامِرِ بْنِ صَعْصَعَةَ حَدَّثَهُ، أَنَّ عُثْمَانَ بْنَ أَبِي الْعَاصِ الثَّقَفِيِّ دَعَا لَهُ بِلَبَنٍ لِيَسْقِيَهُ، فَقَالَ مُطَرِّفٌ: إِنِّي صَائِمٌ، قَالَ عُثْمَانُ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «الصِّيَامُ جُنَّةٌ مِنَ النَّارِ كَجُنَّةِ أَحَدِكُمْ مِنَ الْقِتَالِ»
وَسَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «صِيَامٌ حَسَنٌ صِيَامُ ثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ مِنَ الشَّهْرِ»
وَسَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «صِيَامٌ حَسَنٌ صِيَامُ ثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ مِنَ الشَّهْرِ»
Mutarrif (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Sayyiduna Uthman bin Abi al-As al-Thaqafi (may Allah be pleased with him) called for milk to give him to drink, and Mutarrif (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "I am fasting." Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Fasting is a shield against the Fire, like the shield one of you has in battle."
And I also heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Fasting three days of each month is a good fast."
And I also heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Fasting three days of each month is a good fast."
