حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ النَّضْرِ الْأَزْدِيُّ، ثنا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، ثنا إِسْرَائِيلُ بْنُ يُونُسَ، عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ، عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ سَالِمٍ الثَّقَفِيِّ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي الْعَاصِ، قَالَ: كَانَ آخِرُ مَا أَوْصَانِي بِهِ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «إِنَّكَ تَؤُمُّ قَوْمًا وَخَلْفَكَ الْكَبِيرُ وَالضَّعِيفُ وَذُو الْحَاجَةِ فَتَجَوَّزْ فِي الصَّلَاةِ»
Sayyiduna Uthman bin Abi al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The last counsel the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) gave me was that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You lead a people in prayer, and behind you are the elderly, the weak and those with needs, so keep the prayer short."
