Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 8315 — I complained to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ زُهَيْرٍ التُّسْتَرِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو حَفْصٍ عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، ثنا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الطَّائِفِيُّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ بِشْرٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عُثْمَانَ بْنَ أَبِي الْعَاصِ، يَقُولُ: شَكَوْتُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نِسْيَانَ الْقُرْآنِ، فَضَرَبَ صَدْرِي بِيَدِهِ فَقَالَ: «يَا شَيْطَانُ اخْرُجْ مِنْ صَدْرِ عُثْمَانَ» قَالَ عُثْمَانُ: «فَمَا نَسِيتُ مِنْهُ شَيْئًا بَعْدُ أَحْبَبْتُ أَنْ أَذْكُرَهُ»
Sayyiduna Uthman bin Abi al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I complained to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) about forgetting the Qur'an, so he (peace and blessings be upon him) struck my chest with his hand and said: "O Satan, get out of the chest of Uthman!" Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "After that I did not forget anything of it (the Qur'an) that I wished to remember."
