Reports Qays bin Talq narrated from his father — Muhammad bin Jabir al-Yamami from Qays bin Talq
Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 8205 — the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Dawn

وَبِإِسْنَادِهِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: «لَيْسَ الْفَجْرُ بِالْأَبْيَضِ الْمُسْتَطِيلِ، وَلَكِنَّهُ الْأَحْمَرُ الْمُعْتَرِضُ»

With the same chain it is narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Dawn is not the long white (light) that stretches (upward); rather, it is the reddish (light) that spreads (across the horizon)."
