حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ، ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ثنا كَثِيرُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ بُرْقَانَ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنِ الزُّبَيْرِ بْنِ خُرَيْقٍ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: مَا كُنْتُ قَرِيبًا مِنَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، إِلَّا سَمِعْتُهُ يَدْعُو بِهَذَا الدُّعَاءِ: «اللهُمَّ، اهْدِنِي لِصَالِحِ الْأَعْمَالِ وَالْأَخْلَاقِ، فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَهْدِي لِصَالِحِهَا إِلَّا أَنْتَ، وَلَا يَصْرِفُ سَيِّئَهَا إِلَّا أَنْتَ»
Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that whenever he was close to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he heard him (peace and blessings be upon him) making this supplication: "O Allah! Guide me to good deeds and good character, for none guides to the good of them except You, and none can turn away the evil of them except You."
