حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ حَمْزَةَ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ صَالِحٍ الْوُحَاظِيُّ، ثنا جَمِيعُ بْنُ ثَوْبٍ، ثنا أَبُو سُفْيَانَ الرُّعَيْنِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ قَالَ: «كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمْ لَا يُوَلِّي وَالِيًا حَتَّى يُعَمِّمَهُ، وَيُرْخِيَ لَهَا عَذَبَةً مِنْ جَانِبِ الْأَيْمَنِ نَحْوَ الْأُذُنِ»
Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Whenever the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) appointed a governor, he would always tie a turban on him, and let one end of it hang down from the right side towards the ear."
