Shahr bin Hawshab (may Allah have mercy on him) says: I went in to Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) in the mosque and found him removing lice (from his clothes). I said: "O Abu Umamah, narrate to me a hadith from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)." He said: "Yes, listen! If I had heard this from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) only once, or twice, or three, or four, or five times, I would not have narrated it to you: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'When a Muslim man performs ablution and then sets off for the prayer, his sins depart from his ears, his eyes, his hands and his feet.'" Abu Zabyah (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Sayyiduna Amr bin Abasah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated to me a hadith like this from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he added in it: "When a man goes to his bed in a state of purity and then wakes at some point in the night, whatever good of this world and the Hereafter he asks of Allah Almighty, Allah will grant it to him."
