حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ مُوسَى، ثنا أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْمُقْرِئُ، عَنْ حَيْوَةَ بْنِ شُرَيْحٍ، حَدَّثَنِي الْحَارِثُ بْنُ شَدَّادٍ الصَّنْعَانِيُّ، أَنَّ أَبَا صَالِحٍ سَعِيدَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْغِفَارِيَّ أَخْبَرَهُ، أَنَّ سُلَيْمَ بْنَ عَتَرٍ التُّجِيبِيَّ كَانَ يَقُصُّ عَلَى النَّاسِ وَهُوَ قَائِمٌ، فَقَالَ لَهُ صِلَةُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ الْغِفَارِيُّ، وَهُوَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمْ: «وَاللهِ مَا تَرَكْنَا عَهْدَ نَبِيِّنَا، وَلَا قَطَعْنَا أَرْحَامَنَا حَتَّى قُمْتَ أَنْتَ وَأَصْحَابُكَ بَيْنَ أَظْهُرِنَا»
It is narrated that Sulaym bin Itr al-Tujibi used to preach to the people while standing, so Sayyiduna Silah bin al-Harith al-Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him), who was one of the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), said to him: "By Allah, we did not abandon the covenant of our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), nor did we sever our ties of kinship, until you and your companions stood up among us (and brought this new practice)."
