حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ مُكْرَمٍ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ كُرْدِيٍّ، ح وحَدَّثَنَا سَهْلُ بْنُ مُوسَى شِيرَانُ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، قَالَا: ثنا سَالِمُ بْنُ نُوحٍ، عَنِ الْجُرَيْرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي السَّلِيلِ، عَنْ صُهَيْبٍ، قَالَ: صَنَعْتُ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمْ طَعَامًا، فَأَتَيْتُهُ وَهُوَ فِي نَفَرٍ جَالِسٌ، فَقُمْتُ حِيَالَهُ، فَأَوْمَأَتُ إِلَيْهِ، فَأَوْمَأَ إِلَيَّ «وَهَؤُلَاءِ؟» ، فَقُلْتُ: لَا. فَسَكَتُّ، فَقُمْتُ مَكَانِيَ، فَلَمَّا نَظَرَ إِلَيَّ أَوْمَأْتُ إِلَيْهِ، فَقَالَ: «وَهَؤُلَاءِ؟» فَقُلْتُ: لَا. مَرَّتَيْنِ فَعَلَ ذَلِكَ - أَوْ ثَلَاثًا - فَقُلْتُ: نَعَمْ وَهَؤُلَاءِ، وَإِنَّمَا كَانَ شَيْئًا يَسِيرًا صَنَعْتُهُ لَهُ، فَجَاءَ وجَاءُوا مَعَهُ فَأَكَلُوا - وَأَحْسَبُهُ قَالَ -: وَفَضَلَ مِنْهُ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Suhayb (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: I prepared some food for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). I came to him (peace and blessings be upon him) while he (peace and blessings be upon him) was sitting with a group of people. I stood in front of him (peace and blessings be upon him) and gestured to him (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) gestured to me: "And these too?" I said: No. So I fell silent and stayed standing in my place. When he (peace and blessings be upon him) looked at me, I gestured again, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "And these too?" I said: No. He did this twice, or three times. Then I said: Yes, these too, though it was only a small amount that I had prepared for him (peace and blessings be upon him). So he (peace and blessings be upon him) came, and they came with him (peace and blessings be upon him), and they ate, and I think the narrator said: and some of it was left over.
