شهاب بن المجنون جد عاصم بن كليب واختلف في اسمه، وقال بعضهم: اسمه شبيب، وقال بعضهم: شتير
Shihab bin al-Majnun (may Allah be pleased with him), the grandfather of Asim bin Kulayb; his name is disputed: some said Shabib, and some said Shutayr

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا مُعَلَّى بْنُ أَسَدٍ الْعَمِّيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِمْرَانَ، ثنا أَبُو مَعْدَانَ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ كُلَيْبٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، قَالَ: دَخَلْتُ الْمَسْجِدَ , وَرَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَاضِعٌ يَدَهُ عَلَى فَخِذِهِ يُشِيرُ بِالسَّبَّابَةِ، وَيَقُولُ: «يَا مُقَلِّبَ الْقُلُوبِ، ثَبِّتْ قَلْبِي عَلَى دِينِكَ»
It is narrated from the grandfather of Asim bin Kulayb (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: I entered the mosque, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had placed his hand on his thigh, pointing with his index finger, and was saying: "Ya muqallib al-qulub, thabbit qalbi 'ala dinik (O Turner of hearts, make my heart firm upon Your religion)."
