حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ، ثنا حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، ثنا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ، عَنْ يَعْلَى بْنِ شَدَّادِ بْنِ أَوْسٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: «كَانَ أَبُو ذَرٍّ يَسْمَعُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْأَمْرَ فِيهِ الشِّدَّةُ، ثُمَّ يَخْرُجُ إِلَى بَادِيَتِهِ، ثُمَّ يُرَخِّصُ فِيهِ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعْدُ، فَيُحْفَظُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي ذَلِكَ الْأَمْرِ الرُّخْصَةُ، فَلَا يَسْمَعُهَا أَبُو ذَرٍّ، فَيَأْخُذُ أَبُو ذَرٍّ بِالْأَمْرِ الْأَوَّلِ الَّذِي سَمِعَ قَبْلَ ذَلِكَ»
Sayyiduna Shaddad bin Aws (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) would hear from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) some command containing strictness, then he would go out to his desert dwelling. Later the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would grant a concession in it, and that concession from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in that matter would be preserved, but Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) would not hear it, so he would keep acting on the first command that he had heard before.
