Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 7127 — I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: O

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْحَوْطِيُّ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ صَالِحٍ الْوُحَاظِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو مَهْدِيٍّ سَعِيدُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الزَّاهِرِيَّةِ، عَنْ أَبِي شَجَرَةَ كَثِيرِ بْنِ مُرَّةَ، عَنْ شَدَّادِ بْنِ أَوْسٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّ الدُّنْيَا عَرَضٌ حَاضِرٌ يَأْكُلُ مِنْهَا الْبَرُّ وَالْفَاجِرُ، وَإِنَّ الْآخِرَةَ وَعَدٌ صَادِقٌ , يَحْكُمُ فِيهَا مَلِكٌ قَادِرٌ، يُحِقُّ بِهَا الْحَقَّ , وَيُبْطِلُ الْبَاطِلَ، أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ كُونُوا أَبْنَاءَ الْآخِرَةِ , وَلَا تَكُونُوا أَبْنَاءَ دُنْيَا، فَإِنَّ كُلَّ أُمٍّ يَتْبَعُهَا وَلَدُهَا»
Sayyiduna Shaddad bin Aws (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "O people, this world is a present commodity from which the righteous and the wicked alike eat, and the Hereafter is a true promise in which a powerful King will judge; through it He will establish the truth and nullify falsehood. O people, be children of the Hereafter and do not be children of this world, for every mother is followed by her child."
