Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 7044 — from Sayyiduna Samurah bin Jundub

Through the same chain, it is narrated from Sayyiduna Samurah bin Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say to us: "Each one of you has three friends on the day he dies: one who withholds from him whatever he asks, and that is his wealth; one friend who goes with him until he enters the grave, then gives him nothing and does not accompany him after that, and those are his relatives; and one friend who says: 'By Allah, I will go with you wherever you go, and I will never part from you,' and that is his deeds, whether they are good or bad."
