حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا عَارِمٌ أَبُو النُّعْمَانِ، وَحَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ، حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْمُقَدَّمِيُّ، قَالَا: ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ سَوَادَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ سَمُرَةَ بْنَ جُنْدُبٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، يَقُولُ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «لَا يَغُرَّنَّكُمْ مِنْ سُحُورِكُمْ أَذَانُ بِلَالٍ وَلَا بَيَاضُ الصُّبْحِ هَكَذَا - وَرَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ - حَتَّى يَطِيرَ فِي الْأُفُقِ، وَعَرَّضَ بِيَدِهِ»
Sayyiduna Samurah bin Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) said: the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not let the adhan of Bilal deceive you away from your suhur, nor this whiteness of the dawn, like this" - and he (peace and blessings be upon him) raised both his hands - "until it spreads across the horizon." And he (peace and blessings be upon him) gestured with his hand horizontally.
