حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ السِّمْسَارُ، ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ بِشْرٍ، ثنا الْحَكَمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ سَمُرَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «لِلشَّيْطَانِ كُحْلًا وَلَعُوقًا، فَإِذَا كَحَّلَ الْإِنْسَانَ مِنْ كُحْلِهِ نَامَتْ عَيْنَاهُ عَنِ الذِّكْرِ، وَإِذَا لَعَّقَهُ مِنْ لَعُوقِهِ ذَرَبَ لِسَانُهُ بِالشَّرِّ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Satan has a kohl and a lick (something to be licked). When he applies his kohl to a person, his eyes fall asleep to the remembrance of Allah, and when he makes him lick his lick, his tongue becomes sharp in speaking evil."
