حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ الْعَسْكَرِيُّ، ثنا يُونُسُ بْنُ مُوسَى الشَّامِيُّ، ثنا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ، ثنا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْغَسِيلِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ سِيدَانَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: أَشْرَفَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى أَهْلِ الْقَلِيبِ، فَقَالَ: «يَا أَهْلَ الْقَلِيبِ، هَلْ وَجَدْتُمْ مَا وَعَدَ رَبُّكُمْ حَقًّا؟» فَقَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، وَهَلْ يَسْمَعُونَ؟ قَالَ: «يَسْمَعُونَ كَمَا تَسْمَعُونَ، وَلَكِنْ لَا يُجِيبُونَ»
Sayyiduna Sidan (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) turned towards the people of the well (of Badr) and said: "O people of the well, have you found what your Lord promised you to be true?" The Companions said: O Messenger of Allah, can they hear? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "They hear just as you hear, but they cannot answer."
