حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ الْبَاقِي الْمِصِّيصِيُّ، ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو السَّكُونِيُّ الْحِمْصِيُّ، ثنا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، حَدَّثَنِي يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ أُكَيْمَةَ اللَّيْثِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، قَالَ: أَتَيْنَا رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقُلْنَا لَهُ: بِآبَائِنَا أَنْتَ وَأُمَّهَاتِنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّا نَسْمَعُ مِنْكَ الْحَدِيثَ , فَلَا نَقْدِرُ أَنْ نُؤَدِّيَهُ كَمَا سَمِعْنَاهُ؟ فَقَالَ: «إِذَا لَمْ تُحِلُّوا حَرَامًا، وَلَمْ تُحَرِّمُوا حَلَالًا، وَأَصَبْتُمُ الْمَعْنَى , فَلَا بَأْسَ»
Sayyiduna Sulayman bin Ukaymah al-Laythi (may Allah be pleased with him) says: We came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah, may our fathers and mothers be sacrificed for you! We hear hadith from you, but we are not able to convey it exactly as we heard it?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "As long as you do not make something unlawful lawful, nor make something lawful unlawful, and you convey the meaning correctly, there is no harm in it."
