It is narrated from Mu'adh bin Rifa'ah al-Zuraqi (may Allah have mercy on him) that a man from Banu Salimah, who was called Sulaym, came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah! We remain busy with our work all day, and as soon as evening comes, Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) comes and calls to the prayer. We come to him, and he makes the prayer long for us." So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Mu'adh! Do not be a cause of trial (for people). Either pray with me, or make it light for your people."
Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Sulaym! What do you have of the Qur'an?" He said: "What I have is that I ask Allah for Paradise and seek refuge with Him from the Fire. By Allah, I am not good at your murmuring nor at the murmuring of Mu'adh." So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Is my murmuring and the murmuring of Mu'adh anything other than that we ask Allah for Paradise and seek refuge with Him from the Fire?" (Sulaym said:) "But you will see tomorrow, when we meet the enemy." The people were preparing for Uhud; that man went out and was martyred.
