حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ السَّقَطِيُّ، ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، ثنا أَبُو مَعْشَرٍ، ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ حُنَيْفٍ قَالَ: قَالَ أَهْلُ الْعَالِيَةِ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، لَا بُدَّ لَنَا مِنْ مَجَالِسَ، قَالَ: «فَأَدُّوا حَقَّ الْمَجَالِسِ» ، قَالُوا: وَمَا حَقُّ الْمَجَالِسِ؟، قَالَ: «ذِكْرُ اللهِ كَثِيرًا، وَأَرْشِدُوا السَّبِيلَ، وَغُضُّوا الْأَبْصَارَ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sahl bin Hunayf (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The people of al-Awali said: O Messenger of Allah! We cannot do without our gatherings. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then fulfil the right of the gatherings." They asked: What is the right of the gathering? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Remembering Allah abundantly, showing the way, and lowering the gaze."
