حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ، ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ثنا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، عَنْ زَائِدَةَ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى قَالَ: " كَانَ سَعْدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ يُسَمَّى عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: الْقَارِئَ "
Abd al-Rahman bin Abi Layla said: In the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Ubayd (may Allah be pleased with him) was known by the name "al-Qari'" (the Reciter).
