Al-Mughirah bin Sa'd bin al-Akhram narrates from his father or from his paternal uncle (al-A'mash was in doubt about the narrator); he said: I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Prophet of Allah, tell me of a deed that will bring me near to Paradise and keep me far from Hell." He (peace and blessings be upon him) remained silent for a while, then raised his head towards the sky, looked, and said: "Worship Allah and do not associate anything with Him, establish the prayer, give the zakah, fast Ramadan, and love for people what you would love to be done to you; and whatever you would dislike to be done to you, stop doing it to people."
