It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Ammar (may Allah be pleased with him), who was from Banu Sa'd bin Bakr and had the honour of companionship, that a man said to him: May Allah have mercy on you, advise me about myself. He said: "When you stand for prayer, perform ablution (wudu) thoroughly, for there is no prayer for the one who has no ablution, and there is no faith for the one who has no prayer." Then he said: "When you pray, pray the prayer of one bidding farewell; give up seeking many needs, for that is poverty at hand; resolve to despair of what is in the hands of people, for that is true richness; and look to whatever word or deed you would have to apologise for, and avoid it."
