حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّبَرِيُّ، أَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو قَزَعَةَ، أَنَّ أَبَا نَضْرَةَ، أَخْبَرَهُ، أَنَّ أَبَا سَعِيدٍ أَخْبَرَهُ: أَنَّ وَفْدَ عَبْدِ الْقَيْسِ أَتَوُا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالُوا: يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ، جَعَلَنَا اللهُ فِدَاكَ، مَاذَا يَصْلُحُ لَنَا مِنَ الْأَشْرِبَةِ؟ قَالَ: «لَا تَشْرَبُوا فِي النَّقِيرِ» ، قَالُوا: يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ، جَعَلَنَا اللهُ فِدَاكَ، أَوَتَدْرِي مَا النَّقِيرُ؟ قَالَ: «نَعَمْ، الْجِذْعُ يُنْقَرُ وَسَطُهُ، وَلَا فِي الدُّبَّاءِ، وَلَا فِي الْحَنْتَمَةِ، وَعَلَيْكُمْ بَالمُوكَأِ»
Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id (may Allah be pleased with him) relates that the delegation of Abd al-Qays came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Prophet of Allah, may Allah make us your ransom, which drinks are suitable for us? He said: "Do not drink from the naqir." They said: O Prophet of Allah, may Allah make us your ransom, do you know what the naqir is? He said: "Yes, it is the trunk of a date palm whose middle is hollowed out. And do not drink from the dubba' (gourd), nor from the hantamah (green earthenware jar); and hold fast to the (tied) waterskin."
