حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ خُلَيْدٍ الْحَلَبِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِيسَى الطَّبَّاعُ، ثنا مُعَاذُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، عَنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «يَا أَبَا الْمُنْذِرِ إِنِّي أُمِرْتُ أَنْ أَعْرِضَ عَلَيْكَ الْقُرْآنَ» فَقَالَ: بِاللهِ آمَنْتُ، وَعَلَى يَدِكَ أَسْلَمْتُ، وَمِنْكَ تَعَلَّمْتُ قَالَ: فَرَدَّ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْقَوْلَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، وَذُكِرْتُ هُنَاكَ؟ قَالَ: «نَعَمْ بِاسْمِكَ وَنَسَبِكَ فِي الْمَلَأِ الْأَعْلَى» قَالَ: فَاقْرَأْ إِذًا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ
Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Abu al-Mundhir! I have been commanded to recite the Qur'an to you." He said: "I believe in Allah, I accepted Islam at your hand, and I learned from you." He said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) repeated his words. (So Sayyiduna Ubayy (may Allah be pleased with him)) said: "O Messenger of Allah! Was I mentioned there?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes, by your name and your lineage in the Highest Assembly (al-Mala' al-A'la)." He said: "Then recite, O Messenger of Allah."
