It is narrated from Sayyiduna Zayd bin Ka'b al-Sulami al-Bahzi (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) set out intending to go to Makkah, until, when he was in some part of the valley of al-Rawha', the people found a wounded (hunted) wild donkey. They mentioned it to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Leave it as it is until its owner comes." So al-Bahzi, who was its owner, came and said: O Messenger of Allah, this donkey is yours (to do with as you wish). He (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) to divide it among the travelling companions, while they were all in the state of ihram. Then we went on until, when we reached al-Uthayah, there was a gazelle standing in the shade with an arrow lodged in it, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered a man to stand by it until he informed the people about it.
