حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَكَمِ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، قَالَا أَنَا مَالِكٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، وَعَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سُئِلَ عَنِ الْأَمَةِ إِذَا زَنَتْ وَلَمْ تُحْصَنْ؟ فَقَالَ: «إِذَا زَنَتْ فَاجْلِدُوهَا، ثُمَّ إِنْ زَنَتْ فَاجْلِدُوهَا، ثُمَّ إِنْ زَنَتْ فَاجْلِدُوهَا، ثُمَّ بِيعُوهَا وَلَوْ بِضَفِيرٍ» قَالَ ابْنُ شِهَابٍ: «وَلَا أَدْرِي بَعْدَ الثَّالِثَةِ أَوِ الرَّابِعَةِ، وَالضَّفِيرُ هُوَ الْحَبْلُ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Zayd bin Khalid al-Juhani and Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about a slave woman who is unmarried and commits adultery, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When she commits adultery, flog her; then if she commits adultery, flog her; then if she commits adultery, flog her; then sell her, even if for a rope of hair." Ibn Shihab said: "I do not remember whether it was after the third time or the fourth, and dafir means a rope."
