حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَمَّادِ بْنِ زُغْبَةَ، ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عُفَيْرٍ، ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ بِلَالٍ، عَنْ حَرَامِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ، عَنْ أَبِي عَتِيقٍ، عَنْ ثَابِتِ بْنِ مِرْدَاسٍ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَرْقَمَ، لَمَّا أُتِي ابْنُ زِيَادٍ بِرَأْسِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا فَجَعَلَ يَنْقُرُ بِقَضِيبٍ فِي يَدَهِ فِي عَيْنَهِ وَأَنْفِهِ، قَالَ لَهُ زَيْدٌ: «ارْفَعِ الْقَضِيبَ فَلَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ فَمَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي مَوْضِعِهِ»
Thabit bin Mirdas narrates from Sayyiduna Zayd bin Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him): When the head of Sayyiduna al-Husayn bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with them both) was brought to Ibn Ziyad, he began poking at its eye and nose with a stick he held in his hand. So Zayd said to him: Remove the stick, for I have seen the mouth of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) at this very place (kissing it).
