It is narrated from Sayyiduna Zayd bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "May Allah keep radiant the servant who heard my words and then conveyed them onward, for many a bearer of knowledge carries it to one who has greater understanding than he, and many a bearer of knowledge is not himself a jurist."
"There are three things concerning which the heart of a Muslim does not betray: making one's deeds sincerely for Allah, sincere goodwill towards the rulers, and holding fast to the community (jama'ah), for their supplication surrounds (all) those behind them. Whoever has the world as his concern, Allah removes contentment from his heart, places his poverty before his eyes, and scatters his affairs for him, and he receives nothing of the world except what has been decreed for him. And whoever has the Hereafter as his concern, Allah places contentment in his heart, removes his poverty from before his eyes, and gathers his affairs together for him, and the world comes to him humbled."
