Sayyiduna Abu al-Darda' (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from Sayyiduna Zayd bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) taught him this supplication, and instructed him to learn it and to remind his family of it every day, saying it in the morning: "Here I am, O Allah, here I am, and ready to serve You. All good is in Your hands; it is from You, through You and to You. O Allah, whatever I have said, whatever oath I have sworn, or whatever vow I have made, its fulfilment lies before Your will: whatever You will comes to be, and whatever You do not will does not come to be. There is no might and no power except through You; indeed You have power over all things. O Allah, whatever prayer I have offered, let it be for those upon whom You have sent Your mercy, and whomever I have cursed, let it fall upon those whom You have cursed. Indeed You alone are my Protector in this world and the Hereafter; cause me to die as a Muslim and join me with the righteous. O Allah, I ask You for contentment after Your decree, a pleasant life after death, the delight of gazing upon Your Noble Face, and longing to meet You, without any harmful affliction and without any misleading trial. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from wronging anyone or being wronged, from transgressing or being transgressed against, or from committing a sin or a wrong that will not be forgiven. O Originator of the heavens and the earth without any precedent, Knower of the unseen and the seen, Possessor of Majesty and Honour! I make a covenant with You in this worldly life, and I call You to witness, and You suffice as a Witness: I bear witness that there is no god but You, You alone, You have no partner; Yours is the dominion and Yours is the praise, and You have power over all things. And I bear witness that Muhammad is Your servant and Your Messenger. And I bear witness that Your promise is true, the meeting with You is true, and the Hour is coming, there is no doubt about it, and that You will raise up those who are in the graves. And I bear witness that if You leave me to myself, You will leave me to weakness, deficiency, sin, failing and error. I trust in nothing but Your mercy, so forgive me all my sins, for none forgives sins except You, and accept my repentance; indeed You alone are the Oft-Accepting of repentance, the Most Merciful."
