حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْعَطَّارُ، ثنا أَبُو كَامِلٍ الْجَحْدَرِيُّ، ثنا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، ثنا مُوسَى بْنُ عُقْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنِي الْمُرَقَّعُ، أَنَّهُ شَهِدَ عَلَى جَدِّهِ رَبَاحِ بْنِ الرَّبِيعِ الْحَنْظَلِيِّ، أَنَّهُ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ خَرَجَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي غَزْوَةٍ، وَكَانَ الْمُقَدِّمَةُ خَالِدَ بْنَ الْوَلِيدِ فَمَرَّ رَبَاحُ وَأَصْحَابُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى امْرَأَةٍ قُتَيْلَةٍ، قَتَلَتْهَا الْمُقَدِّمَةُ، فَاجْتَمَعُوا عَلَيْهَا يَنْظُرُونَ إِلَيْهَا وَإِلَى خَلْقِهَا، وَيَتَعَجَّبُونَ مِنْهَا، حَتَّى جَاءَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وتَفَرَّجُوا، فَنَظَرَ إِلَيْهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: «مَا كَانَتْ هَذِهِ تُقَاتِلُ» فَنَظَرَ فِي وُجُوهِ الْقَوْمِ، ثُمَّ قَالَ لِأَحَدِهِمْ: «أَدْرِكْ خَالِدَ بْنَ الْوَلِيدِ فَقُلْ لَا تَقْتُلَنَّ ذُرِّيَّةً وَلَا عَسِيفًا»
Sayyiduna Rabah bin al-Rabi' al-Hanzali (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that he went out with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) on a military expedition, and Khalid bin al-Walid was in command of the vanguard (the forward detachment). Rabah and the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by a slain woman whom the vanguard had killed, and the people gathered around her, looking at her and at her physique and marvelling at her, until the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came and they moved aside. He (peace and blessings be upon him) looked at her and said: "This one was not fighting." Then he looked at the faces of the people, and then said to one of them: "Go to Khalid bin al-Walid and tell him that he must never kill any child or hired labourer."
