حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا أَبُو غَسَّانَ مَالِكُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، ثنا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ، ثنا دَاوُدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْأَوْدِيُّ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ وَبَرَةَ أَبَا كُرْزٍ يُحَدِّثُ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَبِيعَ بْنَ زِيَادٍ يَقُولُ: بَيْنَمَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَسِيرُ إِذْ بَصَرَ شَابًّا مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ يَسِيرُ مُعْتَزِلًا فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «أَلَيْسَ ذَاكَ فُلَانٌ؟» قَالُوا: نَعَمْ قَالَ: «فَادْعُوهُ» فَجَاءَ فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «مَا لَكَ اعْتَزَلْتَ عَنِ الطَّرِيقِ؟» قَالَ: كَرِهْتُ الْغُبَارَ قَالَ: «فَلَا تَعْتَزِلْهُ فَوَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ إِنَّهُ لَذَرِيرةُ الْجَنَّةِ»
Abu Kurz (may Allah have mercy on him) used to narrate that he heard Sayyiduna Rabi' bin Ziyad (may Allah be pleased with him) say: Once, while the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was travelling, he (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a young man from Quraysh walking apart (from the people). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Is that not so-and-so?" The people said: Yes. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then call him." He came, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "What is the matter with you that you moved away from the road?" He said: I dislike the dust. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not move away from it, for by the One in whose Hand is my soul, it is the fragrance of Paradise."
