حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ صَالِحٍ، ثنا نُعَيْمُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ، ثنا ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي حَفْصَةَ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ بْنِ أَبِي لُبَابَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: لَمَّا تَابَ اللهُ عَلَى أَبِي لُبَابَةَ قَالَ أَبُو لُبَابَةَ: جِئْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنِّي أَهْجُرُ دَارَ قَوْمِي الَّتِي أَصَبْتُ بِهَا الذَّنْبَ، وأَنْخَلِعُ مِنْ مَالِي صَدَقَةً لِلَّهِ وَلِرَسُولِهِ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «يَا أَبَا لُبَابَةَ، يُجْزِئُ عَنْكَ الثُّلُثَ» قَالَ: فَتَصَدَّقْتُ بِالثُّلُثِ
Husayn bin al-Sa'ib bin Abi Lubabah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from his father; he said: When Allah accepted the repentance of Sayyiduna Abu Lubabah (may Allah be pleased with him), Sayyiduna Abu Lubabah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said to him: O Messenger of Allah! I will leave the house of my people where I committed this sin, and I will give up all my wealth as charity for Allah and His Messenger. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Abu Lubabah! A third (of your wealth) is sufficient for you." The narrator said: So he gave a third of his wealth in charity.
