Sayyiduna Rafi' bin Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: On the day of (the Battle of) the Trench, there was no fortress better fortified than the fortress of Banu Harith, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) placed the women, the children and the young ones in it and said: "If anyone (an enemy) comes near you, wave the sword." Then a man from Banu Tha'labah bin Sa'd called Bujdan, one of Banu Jahhash, came on horseback until he reached the foot of the fortress, and began saying to the women: Come down to me; it will be better for you. So the women moved the sword, and the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw it. Some people raced to the fortress, among them a man from Banu Harithah called Zuhayr bin Rafi'. He said: O Bujdan, come out (and fight)! He came out against him, and Zuhayr's horse charged at him; he killed him, cut off his head and took it to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
